Saint Martin d'Ardèche is a village in the extreme south of the Ardèche with a warm Mediterranean climate, the song of the cicadas and the flavours, savours and accents of the south of France.

On the bank of the river Ardèche and fifteen minutes from the Bollène motorway exit, the village is in a unique geographical position. Saint Martin d'Ardèche is only 30 kms away from Vallon Pont d’Arc (and its extraordinary natural stone bridge over the Ardèche called the Pont d’Arc), connected by the tourist road with extraordinary views over the famous Ardèche river gorges from the special car parks.

You can also visit the exhibition in Vallon dedicated to the famous prehistoric Chauvet cave engravings and paintings. To protect these art works, the cave itself will never be open to the public.

However there are many other caves to see nearby such as the Aven d’Orgnac, those in the Cèze river valley, the Gard (Aiguèze, classified one of France’s most beautiful villages overlooks Saint Martin d'Ardèche), the Pont du Gard, Avignon "the papal city” in the Vaucluse and Orange and its ancient theatre. And we are just 1 hour from the Mediterranean…

There are all the basic shops you need In Saint Martin d' Ardèche. You can also stroll through the evening markets, enjoy the local produce fairs and savour the Provençal  market on Sundays.

In Ardèche canoeing or kayaking down the Gorges is a "must" but kids should be over 7 and everyone able to swim.  Three types of outings - a 6km mini descent, a 24km one-day trip and a 30km two-day trip. A bus leaves from the camp-site every day to take you to take you to Vallon Pont d’Arc.

It will pick you up at the staging points on the way back or you can canoe all the way down to Sauze dock, facing the camp. 
You can also go for walks on the many sign-posted trails and make guided hiking tours organized by the Tourist Information office.

Other possibilities include nature outings on horseback, bikes and quads.
